Datalogger · Industrial Edge Server

An edge data hub for your whole plant — read, store, monitor & control.

iNut Datalogger is a mini-server running right at the edge: it gathers 100+ PLCs and multi-protocol devices into one web SCADA (FUXA), stores data long-term, controls with feedback — and your data stays on-site, not in a rented account on someone else's cloud.

As your plant grows

Four "walls" that stall a monitoring project

With a few devices, any approach works. But as the system expands — more PLCs, more sites, more protocols — these are exactly what you run into.

WinCC stops at the 8th PLC

Connections drop, errors appear, you can't add more. Buying extra licenses & hardware gets expensive.

Fear of losing data ownership

A foreign cloud holds your data, charges long-term subscriptions, locks you into the vendor.

Hard to restyle, hard to open APIs

Want to redesign the HMI, or extend API connections to third parties (government API gateways, ERP, external services…)? All blocked — a closed, vendor-dependent system.

Power-sector multi-protocol

Power/hydropower projects need IEC 104, IEC 61850 — something generic Modbus-leaning gateways usually don't emphasize.

Breaking down barriers

Put a "middle layer" between your SCADA and your PLC forest

Instead of making WinCC strain to connect directly to every PLC, place iNut Datalogger as the middle layer: it gathers data from hundreds of PLCs, then re-presents it to WinCC as Modbus TCP/RTU — a protocol WinCC reads with ease.

Before

WinCC connects directly

~8 PLCs

From the 9th PLC on: flaky connections, failures. You must split the system & lose the big picture.

After

WinCC ⟷ Modbus TCP/RTU ⟷ iNut Datalogger

100+ PLCs

iNut Datalogger gathers everything, opening multiple Modbus Slave ports (1502–1507) so other SCADAs can connect too.

Because iNut Datalogger isn't a passive gateway — it's a mini-server running at the edge (64-bit chip, 4GB RAM, 32GB storage), powerful enough to manage many concurrent Modbus sessions and store the data. It supports Modbus RTU and TCP in parallel, converting RTU ➜ TCP.

Even when a project mixes many PLC brands, it all comes back to one place.

WinCC Pro connecting directly maxes out at ~8 PLCs — via the iNut PC (Modbus TCP/IP or RTU) it links 100+ PLCs with no limit.

★ REAL CASE STUDY

Lighting SCADA — monitor, control & leakage-current alarm on one web screen

Built exactly to your single-line diagram: from the main MCCB → 2 lighting lines → each pole, with status feedback and real-time alarms.

The problem

Lighting operated the old way: to switch on/off you go to the panel and flip contactors; to know voltage/current you measure on the spot; most dangerous of all, leakage current is only detected when it's already too late. At the scale of many lines, this is labor-heavy, slow, unsafe — and leaves no data behind.

The solution we built

  • PM1125H multifunction meter measures the incoming supply: per-phase voltage/current, total kW — the "health meter" of the whole system.
  • LOGO! PLC controls 2 lines (Q1/Q2, MAN/AUTO mode); ON/OFF buttons on the screen write flags M10/M11 down to the PLC.
  • I4/I5 feedback (FB1/FB2) reads the actual state of the contactor — not just "commanded" but "actually closed/opened or not".
  • I3 leakage-current sensor: detects leakage → the alarm light turns red in real time.

Why it beats the old way

One screen, anywhere

Thanks to secure P2P, view & control from the office or your phone, no need to go to the panel.

Verified control

I4/I5 feedback answers "I pressed off, but did it actually turn off?".

Proactive safety

Leakage current alarms immediately, no waiting for an incident to find out.

The data is yours

Every value and event stored on-site; a foundation for load analysis and operations optimization later.

Replicate it: the model of "supply meter + control PLC + status feedback + alarm, shown on a web SCADA" applies to any switched load — pumps, fans, conveyors, central air-conditioning, substations. With a diagram and one PLC, it can be digitized.

Have isolated meters far away? Use iNut RS485 as a "satellite" feeding into iNut Datalogger.

iNut Datalogger is the hub. But not every measuring point needs an edge server. For a single meter or a Modbus RTU sensor sitting off in a corner of the plant or a remote station, iNut RS485 is the lightweight, cost-optimized gateway — reading on the spot and pushing real-time back to the central iNut Datalogger over MQTT/P2P/WiFi Mesh.

💡 Recommended architecture: many iNut RS485 at isolated points → one iNut Datalogger to gather & store → one overall SCADA.

Quick Q&A

Frequently asked questions

Can iNut Datalogger really connect 100+ PLCs?
Yes. iNut Datalogger is a mini-server at the edge, managing many concurrent Modbus sessions and acting as a middle layer between SCADA (like WinCC) and hundreds of PLCs — beyond the ~8-PLC limit of a direct connection. It's already running in real plants, irrigation reservoirs and hydropower stations across Vietnam.
What if I don't have a SCADA programmer?
iNut programs the screens for free on FUXA (built to your diagram) and includes a FUXA PRO license worth 3.3M VND. You send your diagram/requirements — we build a sample SCADA for you to see before you decide.
Where is my data stored? Will I be locked into the vendor?
iNut Datalogger is self-hosted — your own edge server. Data is stored on-site, long-term, with no dependence on a foreign cloud subscription and no vendor lock-in. "Your data must stay in your hands."
My power/hydropower project needs IEC 104, IEC 61850 — is that supported?
Yes. iNut Datalogger supports industry-standard multi-protocol: Modbus RTU/TCP, IEC 60870-5-104, IEC 61850, MQTT, IP Camera, API — exactly what power, hydropower and irrigation projects need.
Is iNut Datalogger view-only or can it control?
Both. FUXA SCADA allows ON/OFF control with real status feedback (like the lighting case study with I4/I5 feedback), real-time alarms (I3 leakage current), scheduling, history logging — and unlimited extension via JavaScript.
How is it different from iNut RS485?
iNut RS485 is a lightweight gateway for 1–4 Modbus RTU slaves (real-time transfer, no local storage). iNut Datalogger is the hub: many protocols, long-term storage, SCADA control, 100+ PLCs. The two complement each other — use RS485 as a satellite, feeding into iNut Datalogger.
