Swimming Pool Water Quality Monitoring with iNut: pH, Chlorine (ORP), Temperature & Safety Alerts
Monitor swimming pool water quality in real time with iNut: pH, chlorine (ORP) and temperature sensors; automatic chemical dosing and circulation based on thresholds; Email/Telegram alerts; SCADA dashboard and iNut app; RS485/WiFi Mesh connectivity, solar-powered. Water that's always safe, saves on chemicals, and cuts labor.

A beautiful pool isn't just about clear blue water — it's about the invisible water chemistry behind it: balanced pH, enough chlorine to disinfect without stinging eyes, and a comfortable temperature. The common way of operating today is still manual testing a few times a day with a drop-test kit, logging by hand, then estimating how much chemical to dose. This approach is labor-intensive and fragmented and slow to react: between two readings, the water can already have dropped in pH, run low on chlorine, or bloomed with microbes without anyone knowing.
The consequences are real: cloudy water, algae, a harsh chlorine smell, stinging eyes and itchy skin for swimmers, even risk of infection when chlorine falls below the safe threshold. Overdosing, on the other hand, is wasteful and corrodes equipment. The solution isn't measuring more often by hand — it's letting sensors measure instead of people, letting data drive the decisions, and letting the system dose, circulate and alert on its own. iNut brings exactly that toolkit to the poolside.
Dedicated sensors — measuring pH, chlorine (ORP) & temperature
Every good decision starts with good data. iNut connects dedicated probes for pool water: a pH electrode tracking the acid-base balance, an ORP sensor reflecting the actual disinfecting power of the chlorine, and a water temperature sensor. Signals come in over the industrial Modbus RS485 standard, read continuously in real time instead of a few drop-tests a day.
Wireless connectivity — data flows in, no cable runs
The plant room, the balance tank and the poolside are often far apart, and running signal cable is both costly and prone to interference. The iNut RS485 / WiFi Mesh module gathers sensor signals and transmits them wirelessly to the central gateway; nodes automatically form a mesh network around the pool area, and can run on solar power for outdoor measurement points. Install once, and the data keeps coming in on its own.

Automatic chemical dosing & threshold-based circulation
This is the part that turns monitoring into real operation. Set the thresholds once: pH out of range → a metering pump for acid/alkali doses the exact amount then shuts off; ORP too low → a chlorine dosing pump tops it up until the target is reached; stagnant water → the circulation pump / filter valve kicks in automatically. iNut PC at the edge layer runs all of this threshold logic locally, even offline, keeping the water within the safe range without anyone standing by to dose it by hand.
Instant alerts via Email & Telegram
When chlorine drops below the safe threshold, pH spikes, temperature goes out of range, or a dosing tank runs empty, iNut PC sends an alert immediately via Email and Telegram to the person in charge — with the exact readings and timestamp. Technical staff don't need to stand by the pool to know exactly what's happening, and can act before an issue affects swimmers. As long as there's 4G coverage, the alert gets through.
Real-time monitoring on the dashboard & iNut app
The whole pool fits in your phone: view pH, ORP and temperature in real time, track trend charts, change thresholds, or switch pumps on/off remotely via the iNut app. For multiple pools — adult pool, kids' pool, jacuzzi — iNut Platform (self-hosted cloud) builds a SCADA-style overview dashboard, while iNut Datalogger stores the history for lookup, hygiene-regulation compliance checks, and operations reporting.

Real-world deployment — rugged, solar-powered
Outdoor pools, coastal resorts, or pools in locations where running power is hard all work fine: iNut devices have sealed, moisture-resistant enclosures, are powered by solar batteries, and transmit data wirelessly. The same RS485 / WiFi Mesh platform that already runs reliably at outdoor monitoring stations now applies to pool water monitoring — compact installation, long-term operation, and virtually no infrastructure maintenance.

What do you get from water monitoring?
pH and chlorine stay within spec 24/7 — enough disinfection, no stinging eyes, no algae.
Dose the exact amount based on real readings — no excess, no shortfall, less cost and less equipment corrosion.
No more drop-testing, logbooks, or timing manual doses — the system measures, adjusts and alerts on its own.
The full parameter history is retained, easy to cross-check against hygiene regulations and use for operations reports.
The water hasn't changed — only the way we look after it has
pH, chlorine and temperature naturally shift hour by hour with the number of swimmers, the weather and the time of day. What's new is that we can now see those changes as data and let the system adjust at the right moment, instead of guessing between two manual readings. Water quality monitoring, in the end, is simply turning the care of a skilled operator into something that repeats every minute, for every pool.
What is the water in your pool "telling" you right now — that no one's listening for yet?
