Remote Battery Bank Monitoring with iNut: Voltage, Current, Temperature & Real-Time Low-Battery Alerts
Monitor your battery bank remotely with iNut: measure voltage, charge/discharge current and temperature in real time, calculate state of charge (SoC), automatically cut loads when the battery drops, and get Email/Telegram alerts before the system loses power. RS485/WiFi Mesh connectivity, solar-powered, SCADA dashboard & iNut app.

The battery bank is the "silent heart" of countless systems: telecom stations, off-grid solar power systems, server-room UPS units, electric vehicles, pump stations and outdoor monitoring sites. Yet paradoxically, we usually only discover a weak battery when it's already too late — power goes out and the whole system goes down with it, or during a routine check a cell turns out to be swollen, sulfated or worn out long ago. Measuring each battery by hand with a multimeter is tedious, disconnected from real conditions, and simply can't "watch" the pack 24/7.
The problem isn't a lack of data — it's that the data doesn't arrive on its own, isn't real-time, and can't raise its own alarm. iNut solves exactly that bottleneck: sensors are attached to the battery bank, voltage – current – temperature data flows automatically into one place, the system compares it against thresholds, and proactively raises an alert before a failure happens. You manage the health of the entire battery bank right on screen, instead of guessing.
Measurement — voltage, current & temperature of every battery
Battery health boils down to three numbers: voltage (shows charge/discharge state and wear), charge/discharge current (how much is being drawn or charged), and temperature (early warning for shorts, swelling, overheating). iNut reads all three quantities from each battery or the whole bank — via voltage sensors/current shunts and temperature sensors — then calculates state of charge (SoC) and brings everything together in real time.
Wireless connectivity — data arrives without running cables
Battery cabinets are typically scattered: equipment rooms, telecom towers, solar power stations out in the field. Running signal cables to every location is both costly and fragile. iNut uses iNut RS485 / WiFi Mesh to transmit data wirelessly, automatically hopping across multiple nodes to extend coverage; outdoor stations can run on solar power. At the edge layer, iNut PC aggregates data from many points, runs logic on-site, and provides 4G uplink when there's no wired network.

Threshold automation — when the battery drops, the system reacts on its own
Monitoring without action is only half the job. iNut lets you set voltage/SoC thresholds: when the battery discharges down to the threshold, the system automatically switches off non-essential loads via a relay to keep the battery from deep-discharging (which prevents premature wear); when temperature exceeds the limit, it turns on cooling fans or cuts the charging; and it can automatically switch to a backup power source. Everything runs locally, instantly, with no dependency on the network.
Instant alerts — know before the battery dies
The most valuable thing in battery management is response time. iNut PC monitors continuously, and when it detects an abnormal voltage drop, a spike in discharge current, high temperature, or a cell diverging from the rest, it immediately pushes an alert via Email and Telegram — complete with specific values and the battery cabinet's location. You act while things can still be saved, instead of getting the news after the system has already lost power.
Real-time monitoring — dashboard & app in your hands
All data flows into iNut Platform — a self-hosted cloud platform with a SCADA-style dashboard: view each battery's voltage, charge/discharge curves, temperature and history by hour/day/month, and compare health across battery clusters. iNut Datalogger records every change for traceability and lifespan reporting; iNut OPC (OPC UA/Modbus) lets you integrate battery data into an existing SCADA/BMS system. On mobile, the iNut app lets you view data and adjust thresholds from anywhere.

Field deployment — rugged, install once
From battery cabinets in a server room to telecom stations on a hilltop or solar power systems out in the fields, iNut devices are designed to run reliably outdoors: powered by solar panels, transmitting wirelessly, with no need for on-site staff. Install once and data keeps flowing in steadily; adding another battery cabinet is just adding one more network node. On the same platform you can also add environmental sensors, AI cameras, or microclimate control whenever needed.

What do you gain from remote battery monitoring?
Low-battery alerts arrive before failure — you act while the system still has time, with no service interruption.
Load cutoff prevents deep discharge, temperature control and early detection of worn cells help extend battery lifespan.
No more driving out to measure each battery — data arrives automatically, so one person can manage many stations.
Charge/discharge history & health trends help you plan battery replacements at the right time, for the right battery.
Batteries are still silent — the difference is they can now speak up
A battery normally just sits quietly in a corner until the day it fails. What iNut adds isn't a better battery — it's the ability to see its health in real time and let the system protect itself. Remote battery monitoring, in the end, turns an invisible weak point into something you always have a clear view of.
From a single backup battery cabinet to dozens of stations spread across a province, it's the same platform, the same way of operating: measure, alert, self-manage — then scale up whenever needed.
How healthy is your battery bank right now — and do you actually know?
