The Honeywell Vista-20P alarm panel is powerful and reliable, but it is "locked inside" the building: to check its status you have to look at the keypad, and to arm/disarm it you have to be on site. iNut turns it into a genuine IoT system — reading every zone's status in real time, enabling remote control, and delivering instant Email/Telegram alerts.

No panel replacement, no disruption to the existing system — just an IoT layer added on top.

IoT for Honeywell Vista-20P with iNut

Countless buildings, warehouses and stores run on the Honeywell Vista-20P alarm panel — a reliable "workhorse" with up to 8 hardwired zones plus wireless expansion. But the panel itself is very "tight-lipped": everything sits behind an LCD keypad, every arm/disarm action must be done on site, and when something happens at midnight, a siren blaring locally does nothing for a manager who is dozens of kilometers away. Who is opening the door right now? Which zone just triggered? Is the system even armed? To find out, you have to make a phone call — or drive over in person.

The issue is not the quality of the Vista-20P — it is that the panel was built before the cloud era. iNut fills exactly that gap: it reads the panel's zone states and output signals, digitizes them, and pushes them to a cloud platform, enabling realtime monitoring, remote control and multi-channel alerts — without replacing any hardware or touching the original security configuration. In other words: keep Honeywell's "muscle" intact, and bolt on a "connected brain".

Reading panel status — digitizing every zone

The first step is "hearing" what the panel is saying. iNut reads signals from the Vista-20P through its relay/PGM outputs, each zone's dry contacts, or its data bus, then converts them into digital states: zone open/closed, arm/disarm, alarm, trouble, power loss. Every door, every motion detector, every panic button becomes a trackable data point — instead of just an LED blinking behind the keypad.

Wireless connectivity & cloud upload

From the panel cabinet to the control room is often tens of meters of cable — and with panels scattered across a building, running signal wiring becomes a nightmare. iNut RS485 and WiFi Mesh networking remove this bottleneck: a gateway sits next to each panel, aggregates its status, and transmits it wirelessly to a central point — even running on solar power at outdoor locations where wiring is impractical. At the layer above, iNut OPC standardizes the data over OPC UA / Modbus / XML-DA for seamless integration with existing SCADA and security monitoring systems, while iNut Platform (a self-hosted cloud) stores and displays everything on a single dashboard.

Automated threshold-based control

Bringing the panel to the cloud is not just for "watching" — it is for taking action. With iNut's relay outputs, you set the rules once and let the system run itself: schedule nightly arming, automatically switch on lights and sirens when a zone triggers while armed, unlock electric locks for staff on the right shift, or cut power to equipment when smoke is detected. Every threshold-crossing event from the Vista-20P can trigger a chain of responses — turning a passive alarm into a proactive security system.

Instant Email & Telegram alerts

A local siren only scares off a burglar — it does not call the manager. iNut PC at the edge layer watches continuously, and the moment the Vista-20P reports a zone trigger, power loss, wire fault or panic signal, it pushes a contextual alert (which zone, what time, the arm status) to the right person via Email and Telegram — even at sites with only 4G coverage. No more finding out the next morning that something happened overnight.

Realtime monitoring on dashboard & app

The whole system fits on a single screen: iNut Platform builds a SCADA dashboard with a floor plan, color-coded status for every zone, arm/disarm history and event charts; the iNut app lets managers view and act from their phone, anywhere. Multiple Vista-20P panels across multiple branches can be merged into one single screen, with iNut Datalogger keeping the full history for retrieval and auditing whenever needed.

Field deployment — no disruption to the existing system

The best part is no panel replacement needed. iNut installs in parallel: wired into the Vista-20P's outputs and contacts, keeping all existing zone wiring, detectors and security procedures untouched. The gateway is compact, powered locally or by solar panel for outdoor spots, and transmits wirelessly so there is no need to break through walls to run cable. Installation takes an afternoon, the legacy system keeps working exactly as before — the only difference is that it can now "talk" to the cloud.

What do you gain by bringing the Vista-20P to the cloud?

Know instantly, from anywhere

Every zone's status and every incident goes straight to your phone — no longer dependent on a local siren.

Proactive security

Relays automatically switch on lights, sirens and locks based on thresholds; arm/disarm runs on schedule — the system reacts on your behalf.

Centralized management

Multiple panels across multiple branches merge into one SCADA dashboard; full history is kept for retrieval and auditing.

Protect your existing investment

No Vista-20P replacement, no wiring torn out — just an added IoT layer, low cost, installed in an afternoon.

Same panel, but it no longer stays silent

The Vista-20P still guards the doors exactly as well as it always has; what's new is that every zone now speaks up at the right moment, every incident reaches someone, and every remote action is within reach. Bringing a legacy alarm system to the cloud, in the end, is simply about making it more useful to the person responsible for safety — even when they are not on site.

If a door just opened right now at the site you manage — would you know?
